PRODUCTION ISSUES IDENTIFIED

  • Persistently high Empty Rate

  • Blood and liver tests normal

RESULTS
  • Empty Rate reduced from 18% to 9%

  • Increased return of $31 500 from production @ $5.25/kgMS

Empty rate had ranged from 16% to 24% with an average at 19.25% over the last 6 years. A major selenium deficiency was diagnosed and corrected as part of the adjustment, despite 4kg Se prills being applied per ha/yr.

“Nothing I did seemed to make any difference. I followed all the advice, took blood tests, liver biopsies and still no answers. Now everything feels different and I’m below the district average for empty rates and production is up by 6,000 kg MS this year.’
